Nexus — Community Guidelines
Last updated: 22 July 2026
Version: 1.0
These Community Guidelines explain what is and is not allowed on Nexus. They
form part of the Terms of Service. They apply to messages, groups, channels,
profiles, usernames, and any other content on the Service.
Our goal is a safe, respectful messaging platform. Breaking these rules can
lead to content removal, warnings, mutes, temporary or permanent bans, and the
blocking of groups or channels.
1. Zero tolerance
The following are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate permanent
removal and, where required by law, reporting to the authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualisation of minors.
- Terrorist or violent extremist content, or promotion of such groups.
- Credible threats of violence against people.
- Content that incites or facilitates serious harm to others.
2. Prohibited behaviour
- Harassment and bullying: targeting people with abuse, threats, or
intimidation.
- Hate speech: attacking people based on race, ethnicity, national origin,
religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or similar
protected characteristics.
- Spam and scams: unsolicited bulk messaging, phishing, fraud, or deceptive
schemes.
- Malware and hacking: distributing malicious software or attempting to
compromise the Service or other users.
- Impersonation: pretending to be another person, organisation, or an
official Nexus account.
- Illegal content: anything unlawful under applicable law, including the
sale of illegal goods.
- Non-consensual intimate content and doxxing (publishing private
information of others without consent).
- Circumventing moderation: evading bans, mutes, or rate limits.
3. Content in groups and channels
- Group and channel owners are responsible for the content in their
communities and for reasonable moderation of their members.
- Communities used primarily to break these Guidelines may be blocked in full.
- If your group or channel is blocked, you (the owner) will be notified and may
appeal within 30 days through the in-app moderation bot.
4. Profiles and usernames
- Usernames, display names, avatars, and bios must not contain prohibited
content, impersonate others, or mislead.
5. Reporting
- If you see content that breaks these Guidelines, use the report option on
the message. Reports go to our moderation team.
- Do not abuse the reporting system with false or mass reports; this itself may
be a violation.
- See the Moderation and Complaints Policy for how reports are handled.
6. Enforcement and appeals
- Enforcement is proportionate and, for account/community blocks, involves
human review.
- Penalties escalate for repeat violations.
- You can appeal moderation decisions through the in-app moderation bot within
the stated appeal window.
7. Changes
We may update these Guidelines as the Service and legal requirements evolve.
